I’m very impressed!,
As soon as I took it out of the box, I was amazed!
***PLEASE READ IF YOU’RE TRYING TO CHOOSE BETWEEN THE 6426 MODEL & THE 7017 MODEL***
The screen is very bright & very vivid, I find it just gorgeous. I’ve read reviews on other sites complaining about the large size of it, please remember this is a 17.3″ laptop. It is a nice size laptop & will of course be a bit heavier than an 11″. If you aren’t sure how huge it is, please grab a tape measure & measure 17.3″ diagonally. Rating the laptop lower because you didn’t want a large laptop is just plain idiotic.
I plugged it in & turned it on. I was expecting to have to fight with it to set up the network connection (sometimes connections are a hassle), but this laptop made it so simple. I was able to set up my network within the first two minutes of having turned it on. It booted up, I typed in my network key, & I was connected, simple as that.
I’m a long time Windows XP user, so I had to get used to the Windows 7 set up. But, I really like it! I find it very simple to figure out.
The keys on the keyboard are nice. They don’t feel sticky, or too large. You do have to give it time if you are moving over from a regular keyboard though, due to a small more space.
Some people also complain about not having a light on the keyboard itself to signify the CAP/NUM locks, I don’t have issues with this due to the fact, I look at my screen as I type. If you accidentally hit the CAP/NUM lock it will show you on the screen. It will have a lock icon with either an uppercase A for CAPS lock or a number 1 for NUM lock, the lock will be closed if on, or open if off. It’s really simple if you know your “home keys” & are able to type & read at the same time.
One reason I bought this laptop was because of the dedicated graphics card. This has not disappointed me whatsoever. My boyfriend bought me the Sims 3, the week it came out, but because of his desktop computer being older than a dinosaur, I was unable to play it. THIS LAPTOP PLAYS IT PERFECTLY! And on mostly high settings as well.
Picture quality is excellent when watching things on Netflix or Hulu, as well as Youtube. I’ve had no distress multitasking either, I’ll have music playing, Firefox open & GIMP 2.0 open for photo editing & I have yet to see it lag.
One thing, the battery life isn’t going to be as well off as the smaller laptops. That’s just something that’s obvious, larger screen = more power needed to run. I get about 2.5 hours of multitasking before I have to plug it in. It does seem to charge rather quickly though, so that’s a plus. I also like how you can keep it plugged in & not have to worry about over charging the battery because it stops charging once it gets to 100% regardless of being plugged in or not.
I would rate it a 4.5 if it was an option, due to the volume. It’s worth more than 4 stars, but the laptop volume isn’t as high as I would like. But, you have to remember it’s a laptop & if you wanted a stereo system attached to it, you should go with a desktop. It’s still more than loud enough for games, but Youtube it’s a small low. I have not tried headphones yet, but I’m sure that when something is really attached to your ear the sound will be louder. lol.
When I was looking to buy this laptop, I had also looked at the 7017 Model which is more expensive. Looking at the specs, I can’t really see why that one has so many more reviews. It’s the same laptop except THIS one the 6426, has a higher speed processor (2.66GHz vs. 2.53GHz) & a larger hard drive (640GB vs. 500GB). So why buy the 7017 Model for $829.99 when you can buy the better 6426 Model for $677.99? Save the $152 bucks!
I bought mine for $677.99 & paid for two day shipping. The total was around $701 & sure enough it was here two days later. I absolutely like this laptop & I’m 100% pleased with my choice to go with the Acer AS7741G-6426.

|Everything I expected and more.,
I must have been searching laptop vigorously for a few weeks. I checked all the discount sites and have not found one that compares to this laptop with the specs that it provides. Especially for a 17.3″ this is by far one of the best deals.
External:
– the cover and look of the laptop is sleek. The external shell is of texture
plastic which is fantastic since it is not a fingerprint magnet
– it has 3 usbs and hdmi which is very useful for connecting to a tv or monitor.
The software provided automatically detects the external show
Internal:
– I’ve had the laptop for a few weeks now which I have not had any issues
– They processor is plenty powerful and quick; browsing, gaming, video editing,
sound editing
– I wish it had a quicker hard drive but nearly all laptops come with a 5400
rpm drive.
– I don’t have any qualms with the graphics card. I do play Starcraft 2 on it
and I have not noticed any lag with medium to high settings (I haven’t tried
ultra)
– compared to other laptops I have bought there is not that many bloatware
– I do recommend that you buy some blank DVDs to make a backup disc (it
is not included like other, but not a huge deal)
– the keyboard works fine and doesn’t feel like it will break off, but the
arrow keys are placed in an awkward position but not a deal breaker.
Bottom Line:
For the price, this is a fantastic laptop with better than average specs. I can’t complain and would highly recommend to others.

|Satisfied,
Only had this for the day and I like it so far and I like it. I will follow up in the near future with updates.
It had all the specs i was looking for, for a very cheap price.
I had previously owned an acer and it was just really dated like 5+ years ancient.
Only tried it on SC2 so far, works brilliant on ultra setting.
Keyboard is fine, it looks cheap but its just the new ergonomic design many laptops are using now to save keyboard space and so that they can make a flatter laptop.
All of the touch-pads that i have ever used are a bit iffy at first but after an hour or two of use they work fine, just have to wear them in a bit.
There is a small annoying beep when you plug or unplug your laptop but this is with all acers which can be fixed under sound options or disabling “beep” under device manager.
The speakers are a small iffy, but I might try re-downloading the audio drivers to see if it improves, if not, they arnt horrible but i have a set of $17 speakers Ill use instead.
I hope this clarifies some things for some people.
